Meet our team

Remi Abolafia, LCSW

Today life can feel incredibly challenging and overwhelming. For one reason or another, we might feel depressed, anxious, lost or uncertain. Understanding these intense emotions, both their genesis and how they manifest themselves in your life, can be daunting to navigate, especially on your own. But you don't have to do it alone, nor should you. I believe in a strong collaborative process built on trust, acceptance and empathy.

People seek therapy for different reasons. Together, you and I will uncover the root problems and identify the patterns, beliefs and behaviors that are no longer serving you to make long-lasting changes in your life. I see my role as one to sit alongside and help guide you toward a deeper sense of self and freedom.

Like many, I found my professional calling following a personal experience that left me feeling helpless, sad, angry and confused. I didn’t want anyone else to experience what I had gone through so I immersed myself in the world of therapy for self-discovery, enlightenment, most importantly, healing.

I completed my undergraduate program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service. In addition to private practice, my training includes experience in medical social work from Bellevue’s C-CPEP and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I created and co-facilitated bereavement groups, active treatment support groups and caregiver/family support.

Suki, Therapy Dog-in-Training

Suki is a Bernedoodle from Binghamton, New York. She is an eager therapy dog-in-training. While still just a puppy, she has shown great progress in her training so far. Her interests include, but are not limited to, treats (any and all), belly rubs, boat rides and long walks in the park. She will often come by and say hello during sessions!
